The improvements in the latest version means that when playing your songs, you will find that the response time from the MED GUI has greatly improved and is now much smoother, even with a song playing that contains many large samples. To quote John Neil, the MED Help editor who was speaking about a recent update.............. Play back is smooth to the point of silky, and again those expecting the same as V1.4 in this department will be very surprised indeed. Another major change in this latest V1.x update is the online help system. The old style Windows help files (which you will see in this freeware version) has been replaced by the Microsoft HTML help. This means you will be able to browse through the help files in the same manner as you would through the Internet. In addition to this, there have been even more changes in this department, you will find that new bubble help (or Balloon) has replaced the `?` windows dialog help. A number of features are under a new subcategory on the `Settings` menu, aptly named `Others`. This is where a number of advanced settings will be found. ExclusiveSoundOutput: Set to false MED and other audio programs can share sound together. ShowBalloonhelp: Turn off the balloon help when using MED OutputPlugin: Assign which plug-in Med will use to save your song to disk. PluginDir: Change the folder where you keep your MED Plugins. SampleUndoCount: adjust upwards if you have free memory, down if you are memory constrained The present v1.7a (at time of this freeware release) is a major update to the previous v1.5 and v1.6 upgrades. Anyone registering this new upgrade will be entitled to a discount off of v2 when it is released `hopefully` in late 05/early 06.
