New menu-driven version uses humor to explain complex language problems, presents famous quotations about translation over 2,500 years PLUS hilarious "Translation Bloopers" by man & machine PLUS humorous/insightful ideas on how both language & translation truly work. Combines practical & theoretical knowledge about language to provide a basis for understanding what is involved in translating and why many computer-based solutions can fall short. Quotations on translation from Ancient Sumeria to Molecular Biology show how culture-dependent both translation and our belief in "meaning" can turn out to be. Many human & machine Bloopers highlight the fragile nature of understanding by both species.
