Quotations on translation from Ancient Sumeria to Molecular Biology show how culture-dependent both translation and our belief in "meaning" can turn out to be. Many human & machine Bloopers highlight the fragile nature of understanding by both species. Provides an in-depth look at thorny problems of applied linguistics over time, in many cultures, and in many branches of learning.
